Who's Who

Life President

Michael Wood:

founded Rope in 1991 using his own personal resources to fund the organisation while raising gifts to distribute to the poor. On his retirement as Chief Executive in 2003 he was appointed President of Rope. In the same year he was awarded the Beacon Prize for lifetime achievement in the field of charity.

 

Trustees

Peter Wiles:

is a Chartered Accountant, formerly Financial Controller of the London Stock Exchange, with a passion for seeing God meeting needs, financial, physical and spiritual, in extending His kingdom. Peter is the Chairman of the Board.

 

Sheila Crouch:

being a volunteer for Rope as one of the trustees connects her background in economic geography and her Christian faith. Sheila works as a School Business Manager and is glad to use those skills in Board discussions and decisions.

 

Tony Houghton:

has been a volunteer with Rope since 2002. He attends Wantage Baptist Church where he is an Elder, involved in preaching, and in bringing Bible based talks to various groups in addition to leading a house group. Tony works as marketing consultant in the medical sector and agri-business.

 

 

Kathy Nussbaum:

has a nursing background. She has combined caring for a family with various voluntary roles, both in the church and in the community. This included a long spell as a school governor, with several years as chair, which gave wide experience in management.

 

John Shepherd:

John Shepherd: is a Christian minister who has served as Pastor of Emmanuel church, Chesham since 2003.  He began ordained ministry in inner city Manchester, and gained valuable experience spending time, along with his family, in North East Brazil.

 

Staff

Sarah Coope

is the Grants and Projects Manager for Rope. Sarah is able to combine her passion for people and for issues of poverty, being the direct contact for all Rope's overseas partners. She is also currently studying part-time for a Masters Degree in Development Studies at Reading University. Sarah’s other passion is singing.

 

Jon Dobbs

joined the Metropolitan Police in 1978, working as a frontline officer for 30 years, specialising in the Dog Section and retiring in 2009. Alongside work he has been fully committed to the local church and is on the leadership team at Farnhams & Hedgerley Community Church. His passion is to see the church engage  locally, nationally and internationally to transform lives with the love of Christ.

 

Beth Jong

is the Donor Support Manager combining her desire to help the poor whilst utilising her degree in marketing and strong background in a number of office roles. Beth enjoys outdoor activities and has travelled extensively most recently as a scuba diving instructor.

 

Wendy Reynolds

is the Administration Manager and brings experience from a variety of administration roles, most recently within Bucks County Council.  Wendy is excited to have moved into the charity sector, particularly to help extend the kingdom of God and meet the needs of the poor.
