Indonesia - Earthquake
ROPE has had a request for emergency assistance in Indonesia from our ROPEholder, following the earthquake and typhoon which left communities devestated.
Our ROPEholder is providing emergency medical assistance bringing into the region medical teams to include medical doctors, a nurse and a psychologist. They have requested assistance to meet the following needs:
Air tickets
Medicines for medical treatment
Medical team needs for accommodation, food and local transport from the base to the villages
Food for the earthquake victims
Tents and mattresses
School materials for children
Materials for healing trauma work among children.
ROPE would like to send £5000.00 to support this vital work. If you are able to contribute towards this gift we and especially those suffering in Indonesia would be very grateful.
We always have projects that we would like to fund. An up-to-date synopsis can be obtained from the ROPE office. If you would like to help a particular country or type of project e.g. a well, please contact the office for help and further options.
You can choose to support a complete project or make a specific (part) contribution.
Ghana - Business loans for widows
Our ROPEholder in Ghana has been providing widows with small business loans at a cost of just £55 each. The revolving loan scheme means that other women will benefit from the loans in the not too distant future, enabling them to provide for themselves and their children.
Cambodia - Clean water
The history of civil war and genocide in Cambodia has left its impact. One great need is for clean water in rural area's. In Cambodia, ROPE wishes to support the digging of 60 wells in 2009 to provide clean water supply for villages, costs range between £120 to £310 depending on location and depth.
Tanzania - Children: investing in the present and the future
Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world, ranked 159th among the 177 countries listed in the UN Human Development Index. Over a third of Tanzania's population lives below the poverty line. The Dochocare orphanage supported by ROPE is located in Dodoma in Tanzania, which is the new capital and situated in the centre of the country. The 10 children living in the orphanage all receive love, care, food, shelter clothes, they attend school and are given medical attention where needed. They receive three meals per day. In order to continue to support this worthwhile project we need to provide £200 per month or £600 per quarter. Could you help us at all with the care of these children, investing in both the present and future of Tanzania?
