rope taking action, changing lives

Serbia

Map of Serbia

The former Yugoslav Republic of Serbia is in South East Europe. It is about a third the size of the United Kingdom, with a population of some 7 million people. NATO intervention in 1999 led to a declaration of independence by the Province of Kosovo in 2008 which is still contested.

Serbia, which hopes to join the European Union, has a GDP per head less than 40% of the EU average.

Rope's work

Through our partners in Serbia, Rope supports those individuals who struggle to provide for their own needs. They respond particularly to those with medical problems, individuals and familes who lack basic necessities and those who are poor but fall into crisis, particularly during hard economic times.

Dragan's Story

Dragan, Danijela and their two small children live in one room in poor conditions. They are unemployed, and there are long-term health concerns in the family. Our Ropeholder reports that Dragan and Danijela were really happy that we found them and decided to help.
