Siampui, 22, was an orphan when she arrived at Ebenezer Children’s Home in Manipur, India. Now, having graduated, she is teaching at a private school. Pictured with our Ropeholder, Lalpi, she shares how Ebenezer has helped her become a Citizen of Hope.

“I will never forget the generosity shown to me."

Ebenezer has really helped me be what I am today. You must understand that the region of Manipur is full of disturbances with many evil things happening every day: child trafficking; drugs; alcohol and gun violence. With poor law and order children and young people are left very vulnerable.  I thank God that Ebenezer has saved so many children, providing for our daily needs and helping us grow up strongly rooted in the foundation of Christ Jesus.

Though I came as an orphan I soon realised that I was God’s precious child and now know that he is my personal saviour and Lord. I am currently working in a private school but hope to get a job at a government school soon. I know the Lord will provide for all my needs and though I don’t have a boyfriend I know that one day he shall provide a christian man, who I can raise a family with. Thank you to all who have supported Ebenezer Home.”

Caring and discipling

Our Ropeholders, Lalpi and Sennu established Ebenezer Home in 2001 and in that time have cared for close to 120 children. Most come from broken homes, many are orphaned and some have faced abuse. Located in Langol, Imphal West, Manipur, Ebenezer is currently home to 70 children. Despite its size Ebenezer Home has created a loving family atmosphere with boys and girls placed in dormitories and cottages with caring house parents. Lalpi and Sennu desire that all the children grow up strong in faith, gaining skills which will enable them to become future leaders and bring hope to this region. Many have left Ebenezer and like Simapuri talk of a brighter future - becoming teachers, pastors, joining the army and working in business.
