Daniel was living on the streets of Naivasha, Kenya when our partners Sunshine Centre met him.

He was the youngest of five children raised by a single mother, forced to beg on the street by the time he was 7 – looking for leftovers and rejected fruit to survive.

Life on the streets was dangerous. Bullied by older boys, he was scared to sleep at night for the fear of being sexually abused.

Daniel was one of the first boys offered a home by Sunshine when it opened in 2004.  Sunshine offers 124 homeless boys a Christian home which builds them up physically, emotionally and spiritually and ensures they can gain an education.

"I was so happy to find a new home with plenty of food and where I could sleep without fear.”

The effect on Daniel's life was immediate and has continued to improve!

He is currently studying Economics at Maasai Mara University.

At Rope we are passionate about helping vulnerable children, like Daniel, to have a loving home and go to school so they are equipped for adulthood.
