“And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Phillipians 4:19
This verse is taken from Paul’s letter to the Philippians, while in prison in Rome. It is a letter that both thanks and encourages this fledgling church community. Paul particularly spends time thanking this impoverished community for their sacrificial giving to his ministry in Rome. It is so wonderful to see this church wanting to give so generously as they were so spiritually invested in the gospel, and having received salvation themselves, longed for others to receive it too.
We are now into our 10th week of lockdown and as a charity have been taking time to reflect on our own journey during this period. Like Paul we write this piece to both thank and encourage all who continue to support our work. Please know that your commitment to journey with us and our partners is an investment in His gospel and His provision is both rich and glorious.
We are deeply grateful to God that, several years ago, he inspired former Trustees to establish our Emergency Fund, with the specific purpose of supporting partners who faced crises. They had no idea at the time that this pandemic would wash over the globe and all our partners would be impacted. But God did and His provision was set aside. So, when the virus appeared and spread rapidly we had £7,000 in the fund which we were able to distribute quickly in response to partner needs for support.
We are also delighted to report that we have seen God moving powerfully to replenish the Fund as over the last few months supporters have contacted us giving both generously and sacrificially.
During this period of great uncertainty, so much of life has been turned upside down and things that felt secure seem very unsteady. From our small corners of God’s world we want to report messages of thanks and encouragements. The same God, who moved the hearts of the Philippian believers to support Paul in his ministry in Rome over 2,000 years ago, is present and moving powerfully through His church.
This week we will be sharing how we have been able to assist our partners during this time using our Emergency Fund.
