News from our Partners – HWOM, Cameroon
At the time of writing Cameroon has reported 5,436 cases with 175 deaths.
Our partners, Mirabelle and Samuel from Hope for Widows and Orphans Ministries (HWOM) seek to work with churches addressing the plight of widows and their children. The ongoing civil unrest, which began in 2016, had made their work impossible since elections in 2018 and they had to move their operation from Bamenda to Douala. The lockdown came when they were visiting Yaoundé which means they are now having to stay there for the time being. As the majority of their focus has been with local churches and gatherings have been stopped, their programmes have inevitably closed. However Samuel and Mirabelle are continuing to connect with widows they have been working with where possible and seek to be an encouragement to them.
- For peace for the people of Cameroon as they continue to work through the political unrest they have experienced on top of the current pandemic;
- For Mirabelle and Samuel to have God-given opportunities to continue supporting the widows, that they might not feel forgotten or abandoned;
- For provision for the widows and their families;
- For wisdom for the churches our partners have been working with as to how to fulfil their calling to reach others for Jesus and to care for widows and orphans.
