Daniel, 12, and John, 11, are brothers and came to Sunshine Children’s Home home in January 2018 having spent time surviving on the streets of Naivasha, Kenya.
The boys were found in Naivasha town after their mother, a single parent, abandoned them at their home. The boys recount that their mother left the family home one morning and never returned. They waited for her for days and after a while they were forced to beg and scavenge for food in the streets of the town.
After weeks of living in this way, they were rescued by “a good Samaritan” who took them to the Children’s Department. Staff at the Children’s Department referred them to Rope supported Sunshine children’s home. Both boys now attend Karai Primary School where they are performing well. They are described as lovely boys who love living at Sunshine, as they get nice food, have the chance to go to school and play with other boys. All the staff at the home love the boys and feel confident in God that they will both enjoy a bright future, in spite of the challenges they have faced.
