Join our CEO, Andy Jong, as he rides the Chiltern Hills in support of our partners, Change Makers in South Africa. They work to heal men who are drug addicts and gang members, so they can be released from their addictions and be the fathers and husbands God has called them to be.
We are looking for 30 keen riders aged 17 and over, to tackle a course of 30 or 60 miles, hosted by Ride Chartridge, and be willing to raise a minimum of £100 for Rope. There will also be a booking fee of £26.
Our partners’ detox and rehab centre functions as a family rather than just a programme, supporting not only the physical process of getting clean from drug and alcohol addiction, but addressing deeper issues. The team works with the men to uncover the spiritual poverty, family dynamics and social situations that drove them to their addictions in the first place. A key part of the work focuses on family reconciliation to help heal the brokenness that these men and their families have experienced. This then further strengthens and motivates recovery and reintegration into mainstream society. The funds raised from the cycle will specifically fund this work.
Everyone who takes part can look forward to a clearly signed route, a well-stocked lunch stop, a text-based timing service, event photographs and a goody-bag. The school will also host a kids’ festival with activities on the day.
