Based in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, Rope has a Trustee board, small staff team and is gratefully supported by amazing volunteers. We are united in the desire to see hope restored and lives transformed.

Meet the Staff

Andy Jong

Andy joined Rope as CEO in summer 2018. He was previously CEO for Rope over 10 years ago, taking over responsibility for leading the charity from founder, Michael Wood. He has extensive experience in leading Christian charities with an international focus and has travelled widely to meet with local partners and projects as part of this work. He is passionate about getting alongside them, to resource and equip these God inspired people to make a difference in their community and to encourage them in their faith journey. Andy lives in the New Forest with his wife Fiona and 3 alpacas.

Debbie Thompson

Programmes and Partnerships Manager
Debbie joined Rope at the start of 2019 and her role is to build strong relationships with our partners and to support them to achieve transformational outcomes through the programmes they are implementing. She has many years’ experience working internationally with charities and social enterprises and prior to joining Rope she was managing a healthcare partnerships programme in sub-Saharan Africa. She also spent 14 years working in Peru with local Christian communities, in association with The Navigators. With a cross cultural background, having grown up in Peru, she is enthusiastic about building diverse and multi-cultural teams that work together effectively.

Amos Oumounabidji

Partners Relationship Coordinator
Amos works two days a week alongside Debbie, helping support our partners across the world. Originally from Chad, he and his wife Heather spent many years working as part of a Bible translation team to help share the New Testament in his native language, Gabri.Amos, Heather and their two grown up sons now live in High Wycombe and attend Union Baptist Church.

Jenny Rooke

Head of Fundraising and Marketing
Jenny has fundraised in both paid and volunteer capacities for over 20 years. She has worked for a variety of different charities; local, national and international. She seeks to raise the profile of Rope so that more people will learn of its inspiring work.She is married with two children and a member of her local Baptist Church.

Amy Simpson

Digital and Publications Manager
Amy has several years’ experience in marketing, advertising and branding working across several industries including retail and healthcare. She loves that her skills are now being used to change people’s lives across the world through her work for Rope. She is married with three young children.

Natasha Thomsit

Finance Manager
Bringing a wealth of experience as a qualified accountant, Natasha is committed to helping transform lives and ensure that the monies raised are used to bring long-term sustainability to the projects we support.Natasha is married with two young boys.

Wendy Reynolds

Operations and Data Manager
Wendy joined Rope in 2011 and brought many years’ experience in Administration from both corporate and local government backgrounds. She is passionate about supporting the Rope team administratively to help ensure we are as effective as we can be in bringing about real change and transformation for those most in need.Wendy lives in Tring and enjoys being part of a local community choir.

Jessica Osborn

Trusts Fundraiser
Jessica joined the Rope Team as a part-time Trusts Fundraiser. Her role involves seeking support from Trusts and Foundations, helping to continue the impactful work of our international partners. With an educational background in Sociology, she loves that her skills are being used to develop and make lasting change in communities across the world. Jess likes to horse ride and swim in her spare time.

Vanessa Nakitende

Operations Assistant
Vanessa is new to the International Development sector and gained a solid background through her studies in Global Health. She is assisting in all the day to day administrative functions of the team. She has had the opportunity to work cross culturally due to her Ugandan background and is eager to experience other cultures through her work at Rope.

Meet the Trustees

Philip Derbyshire

Chair of Trustees
Philip is a Civil Engineer living in Princes Risborough where he worships at St. Mary's Church.  He has been a Rope supporter for several years and following retirement is now also a volunteer and Trustee. Philip has previously taken on the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro and raised an amazing £2,300 for our Groundnut Project in Uganda, which his church also supports.  Philip was able to use this opportunity to visit some of our partners in Kenya, seeing patients at Dreamland Hospital.

Charles Thompson

'Charles is a Chartered Accountant living in High Wycombe and attends the church of Christ the Servant King where he is also the treasurer. He has worked with a large number of churches and many Christian charities for many years as either auditor or accountant. More recently he was Director of Finance for nearly ten years at Wycliffe Bible Translators in Saunderton.

John Shepherd

John is a Christian minister who has served as Minister of Emmanuel church, Chesham since 2003. He began ordained ministry in inner city Manchester, and gained valuable experience spending time, along with his family, in North East Brazil.

Tony Houghton

Tony has been a volunteer with Rope since 2002. Having recently moved to Witney he continues to serve by preaching and bringing Bible based talks to various groups. Tony works as marketing consultant in the medical sector and agri-business. Tony and his wife support Rope as volunteer speakers, visiting churches, preaching and leading services so people can learn more about our inspiring partners and the work we support.

Kaye Lillycrop

Kaye is a retired G.P. and a regular worshipper at St Mary’s Princes Risborough where she is the coordinator of the charities they support, including Rope. In 2016 she was part of a small group from the Church who visited our amazing groundnut project in Uganda. Kaye found the experience an awesome and humbling one. Her links to Africa include fundraising for a hospital in Ethiopia and a general love for the continent and it’s wonderful wildlife.
